More improvements to AutoCache 2.0

We are constantly enhancing AutoCache to make it more efficient for our customers. Today, we are pleased to announce that AutoCache now supports VMware ESXi 5.5, as well as versions 5.1, 5.0 and 4.1, which we previously supported.

In addition, we have improved the usability of AutoCache when it’s deployed with an NFS backend. Prior to this current release, a customer running AutoCache to accelerate NFS datastores would have to think a bit since VMware required either a VM re-boot or vMotion for the change in cache settings to take effect. We had dialog boxes and/or messages to help users navigate through the options, but with this latest release, you don’t need dialogue boxes or anything else.  You don’t even have to think about this issue because it all works automatically (as the name AutoCache implies).

So now AutoCache operates the same way for both block and NFS datastores— just install a single VIB, point us to a flash device, and in an instant our algorithms go to work to figure out which I/O to cache for optimal performance. Simple, set-and-forget caching that is completely non-disruptive to IT operations.
